This project showcases a 30-second Instagram Reel for The Plant Farm, a local nursery, that intends to grab genuine attention, and leave viewers with the incentive to purchase from The Plant Farm.
Stressful environments, busy schedules, and responsibilities can cause you to feel rushed and moving through life too quickly. The presence of nature in our homes, or frequently visited places, can often relieve the stress we feel when life gets out of hand.
The main focus of this reel is to subtly encourage viewers to purchase greenery from this nursery before even realizing they're watching an ad. To capture the stressful simulation of life, the reel begins with a fast-moving sequence of plant silhouettes on a dimmed white background, paired with an intense soundtrack. Viewers are reminded of the importance nature has around them by simulating the hurry we possess through images, and slowing them down to clearly see the world, and in this case the images, that we usually pass by. Just when it feels like it's becoming too much, everything stops and the message appears...
“When life keeps moving… slow it down.”
This message is presented concurrently with lights being lifted, as if burden and stress is lifted off shoulders, and the sequence of plants finally comes to a pause.
The final scene incorporates a soft fade and subtle logo animation to reinforce the businesses calming presence and to encourage them to visit the nursery to purchase something that might provide stillness in chaos.
This project was first created by taking pictures of plants throughout my house in front of a white background, and dimming the lights to create a near silhouette visual. The sequencing was done by importing these images into Adobe After Effects, to time the transitions precisely with the chosen audio as well as changing the brightness towards the end of the reel. The soundtrack was carefully edited in Adobe Audition to build intensity and to smoothly fade chaos into natural ambient sounds.
